6 Things to Love about Grindelwald, Switzerland

Oh Switzerland, commonly known for for it's continual neutrality, extreme wealth, secret banks, exorbitant luxury, pristine uniformity, rich chocolate, mountainous landscape, warm fondue, and army knives, it seems to have it all. I thought I could never find another love like the one I have with Provence in France, but Grindelwald, Switzerland definitely stole part of my heart this past trip.

So what stole my heart in Grindelwald? The six things below.

1. Nature is everywhere

You can easily immerse yourself in the beauty of the Swiss Alps,

Hikes snake though deep valleys with towering mountains above.

2. Fondue

I don't even really like cheese, but after a nice hike, it actually sounded good. From emmental, gruyère, to appenzeller, 99% of Swiss cheese is made from cows milk. This was my lucky day, because I detest goat and sheep milk.

We ordered the spicy cheese with cubed bread, pears, pickles, pearl onions, and baby corn.

3. Luxury accommodations at the Aspen Alpine Hotel

Tucked in the hills of Grindelwald, this Swiss hotel was a great place to stay.

The luxe mountain king room came with the most comfortable bed, large bathroom, and an indoor couch and desk area, topped off with an exceptional balcony and additional sitting area.

And the balacony was a great place to take in view of the Alps.

4. Aspen Alpine Hotel Day Spa

After setteling into our wodnerful room, our first stop was the day spa.

With your choice of 3 saunas, a massive indoor/outdoor jacuzzi, foot baths, waterbed relaxation stations, sensory rainfall shower, fresh ice to cool off this, this spa a great place to unwind after a long day of hiking.

5. Dinner in a Swiss Chalet

Like the French, the Swiss don't mess around with dinner. Course after course, each plate was exciting and delicious.

6. Plethora of Farm Life

I love a good field of animal and boy does Grindelwald deliver. The cows just literally walk down the streets.

Totes not ma goats, but I wish they were!

If you ever have the chance to go to Switzerland, be sure put Grindelwald on your list! I can't wait to go back and check it out in the winter!
