My Stay at the Bastide de Marie in Luberon, France
We only stayed a few nights, but I could’ve stayed a lifetime.
While exploring the Luberon region of Provence we stayed at the stunning Bastide de Marie in Ménerbes. After doing what seemed like 800 hours of research, the moment I stumbled upon this lovely bastide, I knew it was going to be the most perfect place to stay.
The bastide has a large extravagent lobby space, complientary afternoon tea, a winery, a beautiful property surrounded by serene landscapes, ample al fresco dining, two pools, and a spa. There isn’t more you could ask for.
Upon checking in we were welcomed in the lobby to enjoy teatime next to the roaring fire, which was extremely cozy and warm for a particularly blustery day.
Our classic room was like none other, decorated in a rustic luxurious Provençal theme with the quintessential cicadas adorned on the wall. A nice welcome gift of fresh cherries from the orchard nearby. The room was made complete with a large bathroom and quaint sitting area next to the window.
The view from our room was one of the two pools on the property, which was heated, like really heated, which made it nice since it was a bit cooler out.
After exploring the property and having a late afternoon rest we got ready for dinner.
Of course along the way to the dinning room we took ample pictures in the rose garden.
And were grazed by the grace of a grasshopper.
Dinner was out of this world. This trip we really learned the meaning of amuse bouches and aperitifs, both used to clean and stimulate the palate for the coming meal.
In France, you dine. Dinner was about 4 hours and I wish I could dine every single night. We left dinner and decided we needed to have a dip in the pool. It was late, the stars were out and the thunder rumbled in the background.
Breakfast is also taken very seriously in France.
After breakfast, we headed to the downtown area of Ménerbes for the Thursday market.
Upon our return to the Bastide we went over to the winery for a tasting.
Thursday night we had dinner again at the Bastide and took another late night dip in the pool.
We woke up early Friday had breakfast and headed to our next destination.
The Bastide de Marie is a great home base for visting the Luberon region. It’s luxurious, the food is delicious, the property is stunning, and this was definitely a life time memory.
