A PNW Apple Cider Stand

It was a rare sunny Fall weekend here in the Pacific Northwest and we decided to host an outdoor cider & donut party for our wonderful neighbors. Disclaimer, you don’t have to make this elaborate for your little ones. They aren’t going to care if you throw down a blanket and eat donuts out of the box. Actually, that sounds pretty fun and like a lot less work.

With that said, I love creating a special set up. At times I think I am a frustrated artist and this allows me to release some of my creative energy.

Our adventure of the day was going to PCC in the morning to grab all our ingredients for our activity of hosting this fall theme stand.

Although Maddie is too young, I feel like this could be a great learning opportunity for some real life learning. Have your little help make a list of the ingredients you will need at the store, have them direct you to the store, allow them to grab the cart and lead the expedition of finding the ingredients in the store. Maybe even give them real money and a budget for their event. Although Maddie doesn’t really understand everything we were doing, I talked her though the whole process.

Our goal was local so we ventured to our favorite coop, PCC. The delicious local and organic that we used were:

We heated one jug of the cider up and kept it in the thermos and the other cider we kept cold. Served blood oranges and cinnamon sticks on the side. You won’t regret mixing the caramel and warmed spiced cider with a squeeze orange. But then dip your donut into this delicious drink and you will be in autumnal heaven.

Where I sourced our other supplies:

  • Copper mugs and glass stand are from Goodwill many years ago.

  • Wooden stand was made from four wooden crates from Home Depot and leftover scraps.

  • Printable Apple Cider stand signs are from etsy.

  • Felt pom pom garland was from Amazon.

  • Wood slab was made by a family member.

All in all this was such a fun and success stand. It brought us closer to our community and put a smile on their faces. It was a great COVID safer event and would be a perfect activity after apple picking next year.
